The new Coronavirus Statutory Sick Pay Rebate Scheme that was previously announced by the Government will be launched on 26 May 2020, with a new online system open for employers to recover Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) payments which they have made to their employees as a result of the current crisis.

As an extension of measures announced in last week’s Budget, the Chancellor has announced an emergency rescue package for businesses following the Coronavirus restrictions that were announced on Tuesday 17th March, which we have outlined below:

Announced on 20 March 2020, the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme is a temporary scheme open to all UK employers for at least three months starting from 1 March 2020.

The Scheme is expected to be open by by the end of April to support employers who have been severely affected by coronavirus outbreak.

The Government announced the new ‘Self-Employed Income Support Scheme’ on 26 March 2020 to assist self-employed individuals (including members of partnerships) whose businesses have been affected and have lost income due to the Coronvirus outbreak.
